Abstract:

In a polarized and complex context, the Covid-19 pandemic highlighted, among several crises, that of vaccine hesitancy. Studies indicate a high intention to vaccinate in Brazil, but official data indicate insufficient vaccination coverage. With the aim of identifying the perception and attitudes of Brazilians, an empirical study was carried out using the survey technique, totaling 2,069 home interviews with people aged 16 or over in urban centersAugust to October 2022. To analyze the results, we used statistical techniques multivariate, factor analysis and, regression models and cluster analysis. In general, respondents express a positive view of vaccines, but the survey results suggest that confidence in vaccines may be shaken. The level of education and scientific knowledge affect some of Brazilians\' attitudes about vaccines. Indices were constructed considering values, trajectories, life context and habits of the interviewees. In addition to the region of residence and religion, gender parity indices, vision of the role of the State and trust in science brought relevant information, indicating the need for aligned communication strategies with different audiences considering the variables that impact the perception of vaccines.
