Abstract:

The aim of this study was to analyze the temporal trend of food consumption markers among traditional peoples and communities in Brazil using data from the Food and Nutrition Surveillance System (SISVAN), from 2015 to 2022. This is an ecological time series study based on secondary data available on the SISVAN online platform for the period from 2015 to 2022, with Brazil as the unit of analysis. Prais-Winsten regression model was used for analysis, with a significance level set at p < 0.05. An increase in the consumption of markers associated with unhealthy foods, such as burgers and processed meats, was observed across all age groups analyzed. There was a decrease in the consumption of markers for healthy foods, such as fresh fruits, among children and pregnant women. Additionally, a decrease in bean consumption was identified among children aged two to four years and adolescent pregnant women. The results highlight the importance of SISVAN in monitoring the dietary intake of the Brazilian population. It is worth noting the specificity of each traditional community and people, emphasizing the need for specific research for each context and the implementation of strategies to reduce inequalities among different groups in the country.
